British United Air Ferries (BUAF), one of the leading operators of air ferry services, used the Superfreighter extensively from its base at Lydd Airport, Kent. By 1967, the aircraft was a common sight shuttling travelers and their vehicles between England and continental Europe, offering a fast and convenient alternative to traditional sea crossings.
While primarily a civilian aircraft, the Bristol Freighter family had its roots in military transport.
